STRUCTURED FINANCE

Starting mainly as a corporate lender to large conglomerates in the region since 1984, the bank has evolved into a multi-faceted operation with emphasis now focused on structured finance since 1995.

Geographically, the Structured Finance department covers the whole of the Asia Pacific Region, north to Japan/Korea/China and south to Australasia. Currently, key countries of concentration are Singapore, Australia and Korea.

Securitisation
The bank has been an active participant in this area since 2000, when asset Securitisation was a relatively new phenomenon in Asia. To date, it has attained valuable experience in investing and managing various classes of Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) including bonds backed by consumer finance loans, credit cards, trade receivables, auto loans, equipment loans, residential mortgages, commercial mortgages, collateralized debt obligations and future flow receivables.

The bank was also one of the earliest offshore investors in the residential mortgage backed-securities (RMBS) market in Australia. Since its participation in this very active market in 2002, the bank has developed an efficient in-house risk monitoring and control systems for its RMBS portfolio as well as its other ABS portfolio.

In addition, the bank is involved in the provision of liquidity facilities in asset backed commercial paper programs.

The bank is also able to provide warehousing facilities prior to launch of an asset backed bond issue.

Project Finance
Working in close co-operation with the Project Finance team in Paris, the Branch has actively participated in most major Asian project finance transactions since 1995.

The CIC Project Finance team, working across Paris, London, New York and Singapore, has been involved in excess of 100 transactions worldwide over the past five years across a broad range of industries, including power, utilities and natural resources, infrastructure & telecommunications sectors.

Asset Based Finance
Started in 1997, the Singapore Branch works in close cooperation with the Asset Finance & Securitisation team in Paris to finance aircraft purchases by Asian airlines.

The Bank offers financing solutions in various structures including mortgage loan, sale and lease-back, Securitisation (liquidity lines / back-up facilities) and French tax leases.

Shipping Finance
Leveraging on the experience and expertise of the Asset Finance & Securitisation team in Paris, the Singapore Branch started ship finance in 2003 in Asia.

The Bank participates in the financing of industrial vessels including containerships, crude tankers, product tankers, bulk vessels, and LNG/LPG vessels. The Bank also structures and arranges French tax lease transactions for Asian shipping companies.

In addition, the Bank also finances the purchase of shipping-related equipment (e.g. containers) and offshore energy assets (e.g. drill ships, FPSO, rigs, seismic vessels).
